CBD for migraines and other aches and pains

It’s estimated that more than 37 million Americans, and perhaps as many as one billion people worldwide, suffer from migraines - a debilitating and chronic illness resulting in severe headaches, blurry vision and other symptoms. Migraines can be triggered by many things, but the precise chain of events is still unclear.

Currently, millions of Americans use expensive prescription medications that have a variety of mild to dangerous side effects to manage their migraines. But CBD may be a safer, more effective, and less expensive natural alternative for treating migraines, headaches, and other aches and pains, including incision pain. In fact, clinical research is affirming the potential for CBD as a treatment for migraine headaches. And in a recent SFGate poll, 100% of respondents stated that CBD oil provided headache relief

Research also suggests that CBD can reduce pain caused by various types of arthritis, gout and other inflammatory joint diseases. In another scientific study on CBD, mice were induced with arthritis. After the onset of symptoms, they were treated with CBD oil either orally or by injection. Both treatments effectively blocked the arthritis’ progression.

Recently, President Trump announced a national state of emergency related to the growing opiod epidemic in the US. According to a report by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, deaths ascribed to pain medications have fallen by 25% in states where medical cannabis has become legal. “The difference is quite striking,” said study co-author Colleen Barry, who told Newsweek that the shift showed up quite quickly, becoming clear as early as one year after medical marijuana was accepted in each state. So, clearly there are a lot of lives at stake.

As hemp inches closer to full federal legalization, and more studies are done with CBD, given the promising results so far, we may see CBD as a featured ingredient in products that compete with Tylenol and Excedrin and Advil in the not-too-distant future. In the mean time, all Americans can legally purchase CBD oil without a prescription and begin taking advantage of its numerous beneficial properties.
